Over the past few weeks I’ve been working with young offenders in Camden, looking at ideas around happiness. We’ve explored feelings visually, done some mindful meditations (including a chocolate meditation I can highly recommend), explored unexpected beauty in the local environment on the Euston estates around the centre where we work and created this hand-felted banner reflecting an idea place to live. I’m totally delighted with this piece and will post a better, less shadowy photo soon. There’ve been just a couple of very challenging characters – that was to be expected – but I’ve warmed to the young people and discovered how the process of creating allows them to express what’s on their minds. I think they were astonished at what they’d helped to create.
